YAY RAH!!!

We have super duper news!  The visa folks, that work for our friendly United States Government, issued Airlie's paperwork today!  That means.....(insert really loud cheers here).....our visa letter has already been sent to China and will be taken to the Chinese Consulate today!  Also, we received new pictures.  These are the first pictures we have seen of her smiling!  She is PRECIOUS!!!!  My heart can't stop smiling!

Happy Birthday to Airlie!

Today Airlie turns three!  We wish she were here to celebrate.  We are going to have a mini-party tonight for her.  We'll post a picture.  I hope someone tells her happy birthday today, sings to her, or gives her a sweet kiss on the cheek....

Why Adopt?

Good morning everyone!  I have ten minutes before I must finish getting ready for summer school, so I am going to attempt to compose a logical post (in ten minutes...ugh!)!  Throughout this journey, several people have asked us why we want to adopt.  Here are a few of our reasons, in no certain order....except for the first one!
1.  Our former pastor, B.L., always says something like this "I didn't write the book, I am just trying to do what it says."  How true.  Not everyone is called to adopt, but we are all called to aid widows and orphans.  Life is but a vapor and, as Christians,  we chug along every day attempting to make a difference.  Anyone that knows me, knows that I would take in ten...maybe twenty kids if I could.  For now though, it's one.  And I really hope to offer her an opportunity that she would not have otherwise had.  God adopts us into his family.  Adopting children is a beautiful way to demonstrate the love He has so graciously shown for us.
2.  Worldwide, the outlook for orphans is bleak.  It makes me sad.  I'll post some statistics soon.  I love statistics.
3.  Adoption has always been in my heart.  Even before I met Chris (when I didn't think I would ever get married), I thought I would adopt.  It's just always been there....the longing, the desire.
4.  I have a friend that was an orphan.  Her story is tragic, yet beautiful and she has touched my heart in AMAZING ways.  Her story lets me know that my passion is for children, specifically children that have absolutely no one.
5.  The One Child Policy in China makes me sad.  We are blessed to live in a country where we are not forced to make choices we do not want to make.  Maybe I will post some stuff about that policy soon too...
6.  When we applied to adopt, we did not specify a gender.  Chris really wanted a girl, but I just didn't feel right about specifying a gender....so we decided to mark the big "either" box, knowing that more girls are desired and that we would probably get a boy.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE LOVE LOVE little boys.  Mine are rough and tough and 100% WILD....just as they are supposed to be.  You can imagine how elated we were when we found out that Airlie was available and was a GIRL!  I need an partner around here!  :)  I dream of hair bows and Fancy Nancy birthday parties!!!!!!!!

Gotta run! Hugs to everyone and thank you so much for the prayers!
